Indigenous Affairs Reporter for the Arizona Republic 

February 2022 - Present

Report on Arizona's 22 tribes, with an emphasis on Navajo Nation and Hopi. I've partnered with the Pulitzer Center and reported extensively on the importance of the Native vote. I've also reported on environmental harm and neglect left on the Navajo Nation by uranium and other fossil fuel extraction companies. I also broke and continue to cover the fraudulent rehab/sober living homes that have preyed on vulnerable tribal members in the state.

 

Navajo Government Reporter for the Navajo Times

January 2016 - August 2021

In this position I covered all aspects of the Navajo Nation Government. I covered the executive, legislative, and judicial branches along with public safety. I've reported on legislations, elections, education, environment, health care, and the Navajo Nation budget. I reported on COVID-19 from the health impact, to the distributions of CARES funding. Over the years I've won numerous prestigious awards for my reporting.
